| Approve Contract for Bell Creek Academy High School (formerly approved as Tampa Charter High School) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| Charter School legislation, 1002.33, F.S., permits individuals, organizations, and community members the opportunity to submit an application to the School Board for the creation of a charter school. On December 7, 2010, the School Board approved the application for Bell Creek Academy High School. The school will serve students in grades 9-12 with an emphasis on college prep curriculum with career academies.
A copy of the proposed five-year contract for the school is Attachment I. The original charter application approved by the School Board will become Appendix l of this contract, and will be available for review in the School Board Office. The school's academic goals and objectives are found in Appendix ll. In the event of a discrepancy between the contract and the charter application, the terms of the contract will prevail. Bell Creek Academy High School has agreed to all terms of the contract, which has been revised to include the most recent revisions to 1002.33, F.S. A copy of the application review summary is Attachment II indicating where weaknesses are addressed in the contract. |

| The charter school's first year enrollment projection of 575 students will generate approximately $3,000,629 in FEFP (Part l) funds. The school district retains a five (5) percent administrative fee for up to and including 250 students ($66,682) of FEFP funds to offset services provided by the district. The school will also qualify for categorical, capital outlay, and grant funds as appropriate and allowed by Florida statutes. | |
