Adult Career Services Center (ACSC) (Adult Education – Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Initiative:  The Departments of Adult Education and Workforce Education are preparing to open the Adult Career Services Center located on the Hillsborough Avenue campus of Learey Technical Center.  This program will offer a wide array of services for those individuals in the Tampa community looking to further their education and allowing them to become more employable.

Goals:  To offer services to the community at a centralized location that will provide information on district adult education and workforce programs including General Educational Diploma (GED) testing services through the newly established Pearson Vue Testing Center.  Services will also include a community resource computer lab and classroom for community educational programs.

Targeted Population:  Any community members that are looking for information that will lead to a greater chance of employment whether they have no diploma credentials or are underemployed and looking to find higher wage job skills through technical centers, community college, etc…

Timeline:  This initiative is scheduled to open to the public on Monday, June 3, 2013.

Involvement:  This center will provide services from Adult Education guidance counselors to support the Career Pathways Model and program advisors to support the Hi-Tech center outreach initiatives.   A community resource classroom will also help provide various training and assistance programs to include a resource computer lab in supporting research in job searches and software programs for skill identification.   Participants will also have the opportunity to self-assess through career interest inventories.  Representatives from Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance will also be onsite to assist with job placement opportunities.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce
