Approve Updated District Technology Plan for 2013 - 2016
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Technology Plan is used to align district strategic goals and objectives to available technologies and resources. The 3-year Technology Plan that was approved by the School Board on June 15, 2010, was valid through June 2013.

The E-Rate program requirements include having an approved technology plan with an estimated budget for the services and equipment requested.  This agenda item covers the expansion of wireless networks in schools and the estimated budget for the district’s wide area network in order to meet this requirement.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules specify that a technology plan must contain the following elements to comply with the E-Rate funding program: The plan must establish clear goals and realistic strategy for using telecommunications and information technology to improve education services. The plan must have a professional development strategy to ensure that staff knows how to use these new technologies to improve education. The plan must include an assessment of the telecommunication services, hardware, software, and other services that will be needed to improve education, and the plan must include an evaluation process that enables the district to monitor progress toward the specified goals and make mid-course corrections in response to new developments and opportunities as they arise. Our District Technology Plan encompasses these requirements.
