SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Annual Support Renewal for the Pinnacle Scheduler Software from GlobalScholar, Inc. (Information and Technology Division) Added Attachments
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This agenda item approves the renewal of the Pinnacle Student Scheduler software for a thirteen-month period ending July 30, 2014.  Pinnacle is GlobalScholar’s replacement for the Silk Scheduler that the district has used since 2005.  Last year we completed an upgrade from GlobalScholar’s Silk Scheduler to their Pinnacle Scheduler and schools used Pinnacle for the first time to schedule students for this coming year.  On May 1, 2013, Mr. Bill Condon, GlobalScholar Vice President Eastern Region called to inform us that the future focus of the company is on student achievement and assessment, and the Scantron Achievement Series product.  He then also told us that they are dropping their Pinnacle Student Information System and Pinnacle Scheduler, however, they will support the Pinnacle products for one more year so customers have time to transition to a new product.  This thirteen-month renewal of the Pinnacle product will enable us to use the Pinnacle Scheduler during the January-July 2013 scheduling period to schedule students for the 2014-2015 School Year. As suggested by Mr. Condon, this will provide us the time to find, test and implement a replacement scheduler product.

Attached is the GlobalScholar Master Agreement approved by the Board on November 13, 2012.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The annual support renewal cost remains unchanged, however, in order to use the scheduler for the 2014-2015 school year; the scheduling period ends July 30, 2014, the renewal is for thirteen months rather than twelve. Therefore, the total cost of this renewal is $71,575.13 instead of the normal $66,069.35 for twelve months. Funds are included in the Information and Technology Division budget for this expense.
EVALUATION
Information Services management and staff reviews and evaluates software to ensure the district efficiently utilizes the licenses.
