Per Florida Statute 1002.321, all school districts in Florida not eligible for Sparsity Supplement must provide three virtual instruction options to students. K12 Virtual Schools, LLC (K12) provides Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) with a turn-key, full-time option which utilizes the teachers, support, and curriculum of K12 Virtual Schools, LLC. We have direct communication with families and all staff at K12 Virtual Schools, LLC.
There is a per student fee for services provided. These students are registered as full-time HCPS students; therefore, are required to meet the compulsory attendance guidelines and all state and district assessments. K12 Virtual Schools, LLC serves elementary, middle, and high school level students. It is required for the K12 Virtual Schools, LLC teachers to hold the appropriate teaching certificates and endorsements in the areas of instruction. All of the K12 Virtual Schools, LLC instructional personnel are held to the same background screening/fingerprinting requirements as instructional personnel in HCPS. Our District’s Office of Teacher Certification and Professional Standards verifies that all K12 Virtual Schools, LLC instructional staff who are assigned to HCPS students have appropriate qualifications. The curriculum and courses meet all state and national standards.
