Approve and Accept the School Bus Brand and Options on the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) School Bus Bid #2013-01 for the Purchase of 28 School Buses from Florida Transportation Systems, Inc. (Business Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
In accordance with Florida Statute 1006.27(1) the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) shall assist district school boards in securing school buses, contractual needs, equipment, and supplies at as reasonable prices as possible. FDOE provides a plan under which district school boards may voluntarily pool their bid forms for such purchases.
Our Transportation Department serves over 91,000 students twice per day utilizing a fleet of buses in excess of 1,400. The school district routes cover 1,020 square miles with over 20,400 stops every day and logging between 16,000 - 18,000 miles per bus annually. |

This agreement represents $2,981,454, for the purchase of 28 Blue Bird school buses (5 with a lift and 23 without a lift). Funding for this purchase is included in the Division of Facilities Capital Outlay budget. | |
EVALUATION | |
The Transportation Department will collect data and track records for maintenance, service, and driver satisfaction for our new school buses. This data collection and review will be used to make decisions for future purchases. | |
