SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Accept the Statement of Work (SOW) with Battelle for Kids (BFK) for the Strategic Measures in HCPS: Value Added, the Student Experience Survey, and Professional Development for Principals (Information and Technology Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On July 26, 2011, the Board approved to accept and contract with Battelle for Kids.  The result was a master development and services agreement that is executed by the SOW.

Teachers and Administrators need data and information to guide and improve their instruction.  1. Value-added analysis, when combined with multiple measures, provides insight into the impact schools and teachers have on student performance.  BFK addresses the complexities associated with effectively implementing large-scale, value-added initiatives.  In addition to their work last year with Hillsborough County Public Schools, Battelle for Kids provides similar support to educators in Houston, Los Angeles, and other districts throughout the country.  The goal of this portion of the project is to support Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) roll out of 2012-2013, value-added analysis results.  2. The Student Experience Survey will provide teachers with an opportunity to receive feedback from students assigned to them.  This survey is voluntary for any teacher in the district and is a required part of the 2nd year in the mentor program.  Results are sent directly to the teacher and used for personal professional development only.

A complete description of activities and deliverables is included in the SOW attached.
