Approval of the Adoption of Proclamation, Black History Month, February 2014 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Black History Month celebrates Florida's African-Americans who have made very important contributions to the development of our state. Americans have recognized black history annually since 1926.  The entire nation recognizes and widely celebrates Black History Month.

The observance of Black History Month commemorates the fact that our country and community have benefited from the contributions of African-Americans and celebrates their significant achievements. In celebration, Hillsborough County Public Schools will recognize and honor the contributions and achievements of African-Americans. Attached is a proclamation that Hillsborough County Public Schools will observe the month of February 2014 as Black History Month.
