EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The student scholar program was initiated by PRISM and the Central Florida Public School Boards Coalition to increase student proficiency in higher level science and mathematics curriculum and pursue more rigorous mathematics/science/technology courses while in middle and high school.
The PRISM scholar program involves the identification and selection of the outstanding science and mathematics students in 7th grade each year. Selection is based upon scholarship and participation in extracurricular science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) related events such as mathematics and science competitions and clubs. The district selected two students from each of the four categories: Most Improved Math, Most Outstanding Math, Most Improved Science, and Most Outstanding Science for a total of eight students. Once selected in 7th grade as a PRISM scholar, students have the opportunity to earn additional awards through 12th grade by meeting the above criteria. |
