Recognition of the 2012/2013 Teacher Recipients of the Promoting Regional Improvement in Science and Mathematics (PRISM) for Exemplary Teachers of Excellence and Teachers of Promise in Grades K-12 (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The Exemplary Teacher Program was initiated by PRISM and the Central Florida Public School Boards Coalition. Teachers of Excellence have more than three years of experience while the Teachers of Promise have three years or less experience. Principals in grades K-12 schools were asked to submit nominations for their school in each of the categories. Nominated teachers must complete a district application to be considered for the award.
A district committee selected the Teacher of Excellence and Teacher of Promise for each grade level for mathematics, science, and career and technical education. The selection criteria included increasing student achievement, hands-on experiences, cooperative work, multimedia resources, participation in content area competitions, participation and leading professional development, and participation in district curriculum and assessment committees.
