EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
The School District has developed working relationships and services for students with foster care families, educators, and several local providers including Connected by 25, Inc., the Eckerd Family Foundation, and ECKERD to support youth in foster care and their educational success. The School District has provided funds and successfully assigned a districtwide high school guidance counselor for youth in licensed foster care. ECKERD staff has agreed to provide funds and support for a districtwide middle school guidance counselor for youth in licensed foster care. | |

ECKERD will pay the School District in the amount not to exceed $59,128.58 for the salary, benefits, vicinity travel, and equipment/supplies costs of one 10-month, districtwide middle school guidance counselor. This will include reimbursement of funds for July 1, 2013 through November 5, 2013. Connected by 25, Inc. has offered to provide office space for the districtwide middle and high school guidance counselors for youth in licensed foster care. | |
EVALUATION | |
Program services are evaluated on an ongoing basis. Individual support, guidance, and progress monitoring is provided at school sites for each participating student. The Supervisor of School Social Work Services meets with guidance counselors for program service planning. An annual report of student achievement is provided with the cooperation of Department of Assessment and Accountability. This information is analyzed and shared to make recommendations and improve services for youth in licensed foster care. | |
