| Approve the Juvenile Justice Education Program High School Equivalency Examination Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (SBHC) and the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) for Reimbursement of Specific General Equivalency Degree (GED) Testing Expenses for 2013/2014 School Year (Instructional Support Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| We request approval of the FLDOE MOU, which was made available to the SBHC on October 4, 2013. This MOU would allow for the SBHC to be reimbursed for expenses related to GED exams administered to any successful completer while in a juvenile justice education program for the remainder of the 2013/2014 school year. There are currently five sections of the GED test totaling $70. The new GED test will have four sections at $32 per section, which totals $128 per test.
This one-year opportunity will also allow the SBHC to partially recapture qualifying GED testing costs as of July 1, 2013. State procedure does not move forward with this MOU until the invited agency (SBHC) agrees to participate. Approval of this MOU agrees to do so. |

| Based on 2013/2014 Youth Services GED testing participation estimation, the FLDOE will allow the SBHC to claim approximately $11,350 for reimbursement of instruction costs. | |
| EVALUATION | |
| The SBHC will maintain all submitted reimbursement documents and receipts and, per the conditions of the MOU, respond to applicable audit inquiries and/or audit findings, and will retain the same for five fiscal years after completion or termination of this MOU. | |
