| Approve the Juvenile Justice Education Program Postsecondary Instruction Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida (SBHC) and the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) for Reimbursement of Specific Postsecondary Instructional Expenses for the 2013/2014 School Year (Instructional Support Division) | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| On October 4, 2013, the FLDOE made available the attached MOU. This offering would allow for the reimbursement of certain expenses related to the postsecondary instruction of students who are in a juvenile justice education program. This one-year opportunity will allow the SBHC to partially recover these costs. This MOU will help provide funding opportunities to establish long-needed, postsecondary options for students, while secured within a residential facility.
With approval of this MOU, the SBHC will be able to recapture qualifying postsecondary instructional expenses as of July 1, 2013. State procedure does not move forward with this MOU until the invited agency (SBHC) agrees to participate. Approval of the MOU agrees to do so. |

| The FLDOE will allow the SBHC to claim up to $2,375 per eligible student for reimbursement of instruction costs. | |
| EVALUATION | |
| The SBHC will maintain all submitted reimbursement documents and receipts and, per the conditions of the MOU, respond to applicable audit inquiries and/or audit findings, and will retain the same for five fiscal years after completion or termination of this MOU. | |
