Accept the Piggyback of Contract #760-000-10-1, Construction, Industrial, Agricultural, and Lawn Equipment Between John Deere and the State of Florida, Department of Management Services (DMS) for the Purchase of Agricultural Tractors and Implements (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

We are requesting approval of the purchase of John Deere tractors and standard loaders for the Agriscience program at Alonso, Gaither, and Newsome High Schools. 

The tractors and loaders that are being purchased to support the Agriscience Student Performance Standards set forth by Florida Department of Education (FLDOE).  Teachers are required to teach students agricultural equipment operation, safety, and maintenance.  These skills are also included on the Agricultural Tech Certification Exam.

FLDOE 6A-1.012 (10) Purchasing Policies and district policy allow purchases from contracts awarded by other government agencies, district school boards, and the DMS at or below specified prices.

The term of this contract ends on December 30, 2013.  This is a one-time purchase.

Funds of $70,762 will be available in Project 2528, Perkins Secondary District.
EVALUATION
Teachers are required to teach students agricultural equipment operation, safety, and maintenance.  These skills are included on the Agricultural Tech Certification Exam, which will be used to continually evaluate effectiveness.
