Approve Expenditure for Equipment for Kitchen Renovations at Multiple Sites
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Student Nutrition Services has identified funding to upgrade serving lines and/or cooler freezers at 80 sites.  (Schools projected to receive a serving line or freezer-cooler replacement are identified in the attachment.)  On October 8, 2013 the Board appointed Rowe Architects Incorporated and The Beck Group to provide design and construction management services.

Requirements for serving line and freezer cooler components with long delivery lead times have been established by the design professional, and competitive bids have been solicited by the construction manager as indicated in the attachment. Approval to authorize the construction manager to acquire the equipment in advance of establishment of the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) is requested. This will allow fabrication of the equipment to commence while site-specific installation documents are completed and a GMP is prepared and approved.

Student Nutrition Services has allocated $8,800,000 for the kitchen renovations.  $4,211,453.29 is required for the equipment purchases recommended herein.
