SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Design Development for Kitchen Renovations at Robinson High School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Student Nutrition Services' assessment of kitchen facilities established the Robinson High School facility as a high priority for renovation.  Schenkel & Shultz Architects, Inc. and Mills Gilbane were selected by District staff from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design and construction management services for the project.  Scope of work includes a new serving line, freezer cooler and dry storage room; a new kitchen hood; and an upgraded electrical system and finishes.

Approval of design development as illustrated in the attachment will allow the design professional to proceed with design documents.  Due to the long lead time for delivery of the serving line, freezer cooler and kitchen hood, approval to acquire this equipment in advance of guaranteed maximum price (GMP) approval is also requested.  Project completion is scheduled for August 2014.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Construction budget is $1,238,600 which includes approximately $375,000 for the equipment being acquired early.  This item is included in Student Nutrition funds and District Capital Outlay:  Local Millage.
