Approve the Services Agreement with New Teacher Center to Support the Development and Enhancement of the POWER 3 Teacher Leader Program (Instructional Support Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
New Teacher Center (NTC) is an educational leader in the development of teacher mentors. Teacher Leaders at 30 POWER 3 sites work with all instructional personnel to ensure consistent and effective teaching strategies in all disciplines and grade levels. Through a comprehensive program of professional development and instructional tools, NTC will train and support Teacher Leaders in the implementation of intensive instructional practice and student-learning focused site-based teacher support. Teacher Leaders provide relevant coaching and instructional models to meet the prescriptive professional development needs at the district’s 30 POWER 3 schools. The partnership with NTC will consist of a structured program of ongoing support and professional development. | |

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Provide for a district-wide succession planning structure and visible career ladder • Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression | |
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes) | |
Funding for this project is provided by the TIF 4 Grant, POWER 3. Specifically, $186,700 is allocated annually for external leadership and coaching support for the thirty Teacher Leaders in POWER 3 schools. | |
EVALUATION | |
The program’s progress will be evaluated annually by the POWER 3 administrators, Professional Development supervisor, and an external evaluator. | |
