SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Appointment of Design Professional for Classroom Addition at Lennard High School
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
A 20-classroom addition is proposed for Lennard High School to alleviate overcrowding at East Bay High School and assist in accommodating growth impacting Riverview and Lennard High Schools. The addition will open in August 2015 for the 2015-2016 school year. Appointment of a qualified design professional for the project is required. Florida Statutes require that district school boards reuse construction documents when feasible and practical. Reuse of the design of an existing classroom building at Lennard High School provides the most practical and cost-effective method of acquiring the design for the proposed addition. Appointment of Holmes Hepner & Associates Architects, Inc., the designer of record for Lennard High School, to provide the needed design services for a fixed fee of $206,250 is therefore recommended. |
|
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES | |
• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The total budget for the addition is $5,065,790, to be funded by Impact Fees. The design fee being awarded is $206,250. (Award is subject to approval of the Resolution for Impact Fee Fund Disbursement, recommended separately and concurrently with this agenda item.) |
