Approve Proclamation and Pledge of Civility for the Month of May.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The month of May has been declared "Civility Awareness Month" to celebrate the spirit of civility among all people regardless of race, creed, color, or station in life.  As a cornerstone of democracy, Americans have observed certain rules of behavior generally known as civility.  The City, County, and Local Government Law Section of the Florida Bar urge the adoption of a pledge of civility by all citizens in the state of Florida.

The art of civility requires constant application every day; however, during the month of May we celebrate civility by treating each other in our schools, communities, businesses, and families with the three "R" Principles of Civility - Respect, Restraint, and Responsibility that is positive, kind, and inclusive.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety including students, employees, visitors, facilities, transportation, and health
