Approve Lease Agreement Between the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and the School Board of Hillsborough County for Grazing Land for the Newsome High School Agricultural Program

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

District staff has been working with staff of Hillsborough County to locate available land to use for Newsome High School's agricultural program.  The County owns approximately eleven (11) acres at 12705 Balm Boyette Road in Riverview that is appropriate for the school's agricultural programs (Exhibits A and A-2).   In lieu of rental fees, the district will perform in-kind management and maintenance services to the property, which will provide a substantial benefit to the County and the public (Exhibit B).

The initial term of the lease will be for a period of five (5) years commencing on the date this lease is executed by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).  After the initial term, if the district is not in default under the terms of the lease, the lease shall automatically renew on a year-to-year basis with all terms and conditions remaining the same.  The lease may be terminated by either party with a 90 day written notification.

The Lease will be presented to the BOCC on May 21, 2014, and will be signed and fully executed at that time.
