Adoption of Proclamation – World Refugee Day, June 12, 2014 (Instructional Support Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Adopt the World Refugee Day Proclamation to recognize the work of the Tampa Bay Refugee Task Force.  On June 12, 2014, at Jefferson High School 5:00 pm, this Task Force is sponsoring a World Refugee Day Celebration “The Journey” among agency partners, students and families, faith/community-based organizations, educators, and community representatives.  The primary goals for this celebration are to better understand the needs of the growing number of refugee students in Hillsborough County, foster stronger communication and support systems, and create a more welcoming environment for newly arrive refugees.  The event will educate community members on the experiences of refugees as they journey from their home country to their new home in Tampa Bay.

The World Refugee Day event will be held at Jefferson High School on June 12, 2014. The financial impact for this support is $2,000.  These funds have been allocated from Title III, Part A, Supplementary Instructional Support for English Language Learners.
