Approve Memorandum of Understanding with The College Board as a Partner with The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida in its Continued Implementation of the College and Career Readiness Program Model  2014/2015 Through 2016/2017 (Deputy Superintendent)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval of the Memorandum of Understanding with The College Board as a partnership extension for the College and Career Readiness Model (formally known as EXCELerator) to begin in the 2014/2015 school year through the 2016/2017 school year. Through a collaborative process, the program components were chosen and implementation approaches were optimized for Hillsborough County Public Schools, which resulted in:

  • Discounts on The College Board products due to the whole district, multi-year nature of the project;
  • Optimized implementation approaches that saved Hillsborough County more than $4M; and
  • The College Board has agreed to provide their College and Career Readiness services for Leadership Development, Counselor Development, Instructional Support, and Guidance Support.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Annual expenditures of $3,420,746 pay for College and Career Readiness and fees totaling $1,097,791, as well as products including PSAT, SAT, Advanced Placement, Springboard, and staff development consulting total of $2,322,955.  Funding is covered from the College and Career Readiness funds, additional weighted FTE-generated from Advance Placement exams, and the Curriculum and Instructional Division's budget.
EVALUATION

Data will be collected from each site on a quarterly basis and sent to The College Board for review.  The College Board monitoring teams will work with site-based monitoring teams to ensure that programs are implemented.
