Approve 2014-15 Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) Maintenance Projects and Millage Projects

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The 2014 Legislature appropriated funds to support Public Education Capital Outlay (PECO) projects for the 2014-15 fiscal year.   Funds identified through this appropriation must be encumbered within 31 months.

Millage funds are received from local property tax assessments.  Millage funds also provide payment for debt service, site and bus purchases, and other obligations.  The 2014-15 projects identified on the attached sheets are the result of prioritizing recommendations from facility assessments, maintenance staff, Area Leadership Directors and individual schools.

• Align the performance management system with the district’s priorities • Demonstrate best financial practices • Demonstrate "best practices" in all aspects of safety including students, employees, visitors, facilities, transportation, and health • Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

The 2014-15 District Capital Outlay: PECO Maintenance Fund allocation is $3,825,855.  The 2014-15 Local Millage Assessment available for projects after prior obligations is $38,753,648.
