Performance Outcomes with Effective Rewards POWER 3 Teacher Leader Program (Division of Student Services)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Initiative:  The POWER 3 mission is to recruit and retain highly effective teachers at the District’s 30 POWER 3 sites.

Goals:  POWER 3 goals include: 

  • Recruit and retain highly effective teachers
  • Increase teacher effectiveness
  • Increase student achievement
  • Provide prescriptive professional development based on site and individual needs
  • Enhance leadership development of administrators

Targeted Population:  Teacher Leaders will work with all POWER 3 instructional personnel to help teachers improve instructional effectiveness, resulting in an increase in student achievement.

Timeline:  The POWER 3 grant began the planning year in October 2012. This 5-year grant will be fully implemented from the 2013-2014 school year through the 2016-2017.

Professional/Staff Development:  Teacher Leaders have received extensive professional development training in the following areas. 

  • Coaching
  • Teacher Evaluation Training (Observation & Feedback)
  • Master Trainer (Adult Learning Theory)
  • Instructional Best Practices
  • Technology Resources
  • Giving and Receiving Constructive Feedback
  • Data Analysis
  • Professional Learning Communities

Transferability:  Each of the POWER 3 sites has a designated Teacher Leader to work with all instructional personnel.

Involvement:  POWER 3 has several professional partners including New Teacher Center, Eckerd College, and the School Improvement Network that provide some of the professional development for the Teacher Leaders and POWER 3 sites.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum • Recruit, develop, and retain a highly effective, diverse workforce
