| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| As the role of principal has shifted during the past several years, so has the role of the principal's supervisor, which in Hillsborough County Public Schools is known as Area Leadership Directors (ALDs). With the shift has come an extensive amount of training and support to ensure the district's ALDs are equipped to effectively supervise, evaluate, and coach principals.
The agreement with the Center for Educational Leadership is funded by the Wallace Foundation as part of the Principal Supervisor Grant. The district was given funding to provide support to ALDs and Principal Coaches as they work together to improve principal effectiveness. The year-long professional development will include monthly face-to-face professional learning sessions and coaching in the field. ALDs and Principal Coaches will improve their ability to utilize coaching, engage in inquiry cycles focused on principal problems of practice, develop and execute principal learning plans and develop and lead principal professional learning communities. The Assistant Superintendent of Administration will also receive training and support to increase his/her ability to improve the performance of ALDs. |

| EVALUATION | |
| Improvement in ALD performance will be assessed using the ALD performance rubric through a baseline assessment followed by an end-of-the-year assessment.
