SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Marketing Rights Agreement Between Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) and Education Funding Partners (EFP) for a Limited Time Web Advertising Pilot  (Business Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On February 05, 2013, the Board approved the Microsoft Campus and School Agreement (CASA) subscription licensing program allowing the district to run selected Microsoft products. The Microsoft Student Advantage program is part of that agreement.  Students are able to download and install free Microsoft Office ProPlus applications (valued at $129) on up to five of their home devices.  Our Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) website home page currently displays this offer, but it does not generate dollars for our school district.

Microsoft has partnered with EFP to promote the free Microsoft products available to our students.  EFP is a national marketing company that assists school districts in raising funds through Fortune 500 corporate sponsorships. They work exclusively with K-12 public education, matching socially responsible and appropriate sponsors with school districts.

At a School Board workshop on April 09, 2013, the topic of website advertising was addressed. At that time, we heard the revenue was not significant enough and advertising was a distraction from our mission, but the Board would be willing to address future opportunities.  We view this effort with Microsoft as an opportunity to provide our students with home access to free software that will aid them in learning and assisting HCPS with delivering the message.  The attachment details the specific three-month requirements regarding ad placement, school posters, and marketing notifications.
