SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Renewal of Revised Membership Agreement with the National Academy Foundation for Academies at Armwood, Brandon, Chamberlain, Jefferson, and Steinbrenner High Schools (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On February 13, 1995, and again on March 13, 2007, the School Board approved the Membership Agreement with the National Academy Foundation (NAF), a non-profit education organization that collaborates with the Florida Department of Education to provide support for the establishment of various academies of special curriculum focus.

We request renewal of the revised Membership Agreement between NAF and the Academy of Finance at Armwood, Brandon, Chamberlain, and Jefferson High Schools, as well as the Academy of Information Technology at Brandon and Steinbrenner High Schools. As part of this revised Membership Agreement, NAF agrees to provide digital curriculum materials, Academy implementation resources, and a dedicated NAF Academy Development Director to support teachers and district staff in implementing the NAF Academy model with fidelity.

NAF Academies focus on career exposure and preparation at the high school level with the objective of eliminating barriers to create an interdisciplinary program to ensure student success in preparation for employment and higher education. The program enriches the connections of the participating high schools and the financial and information technology institutions that provide advisory committees, mentors, and job placement for academy students.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funds in the amount of $5,700 for the annual renewal of the Academy Membership are included in the general operating budget for Career and Technical Education (CTE).
EVALUATION
The NAF Membership Agreement will be evaluated by the CTE supervisor based on the number of students participating and completing these programs.
