SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Agreement for Technical Services with The Skills Center at ACTS Youth Residential Program, Dorothy Thomas, Jennings, Liberty, and Turkey Creek Middle, Freedom, Hillsborough, and Newsome High Schools (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Skills Center will provide 18 sessions of the Got Skills! Leadership Series program focused on leadership skills, character building, and personal development to assist successful completion of school at Jennings and Liberty Middle, and Freedom, Hillsborough, and Newsome High Schools. In addition, The Skills Center will provide a Character Based Sports Training Program focused on the application and transfer of life skills delivered through a selected sport at ACTS Youth Residential Program, Dorothy Thomas, and Turkey Creek Middle Schools.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
This contract will be paid using Title I, Part D grant funds in the amount of $25,000.
EVALUATION
The Skills Center will administer a pre- and posttest at the beginning and end of the contract period to participating students to determine if documented objectives of the program were achieved. Progress reports will be shared regularly with district staff, the program supervisor and/or designee to discuss progress of the program objectives during the contract period. Data will be analyzed to determine the success of the program and future contracts with the provider. At the conclusion of the program, a final report will be shared with district staff.
