SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Recognition of Rotary International District 6890 for Their Support of Education, Literacy, and Youth Development in Hillsborough County (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We would like to recognize the comprehensive efforts of our local District 6890 Rotarians to promote education, literacy, and development of our youth.  As part of their literacy projects, the Rotarians have been purchasing and delivering more than 12,000 dictionaries to 4th grade students in our district for nearly a decade.  On May 16, 2015, a Rotary Day Celebration is planned at the Florida State Fairgrounds in which the world’s largest traveling children’s book will be unveiled.  This celebration will culminate with their donation of 10,000 books to children in attendance. In addition to their literacy support, the Rotarians are organizing and providing three leadership training sessions for local high school students.

• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners
