Recognition of Community Stepping Stones for Providing Year-Round, Out-of-School Time Curriculum Designed for At-Risk Youth (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Community Stepping Stones (CSS) offers year-round, out-of-school, arts-integrated curriculum designed to inspire and educate at-risk youth helping them become successful adults.  CSS is a nonprofit learning center representing an important link in the continuum of community building efforts aimed at returning prosperity, while focusing on the Sulphur Springs community.

The Beautiful Beasties projects completed by students living in the Sulphur Springs community are exhibited throughout the Tampa Bay area including Shore Magnet Elementary School and the Amalie Arena and are permanent display at the Lowry Park Zoo cafeteria.  

Beginning in January 2015, Memorial and Van Buren Middle schools will participate in The Comic Book Literacy Project.  This nine week project allows students to plan, write, design, and publish their own original comic books. 

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression
