Proclamation by Governor Rick Scott Observing November 2014 as Florida Parental Involvement in Education Month (Academic Support and Federal Programs Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Annually, the Governor of the State of Florida proclaims November as "Florida Parental Involvement in Education Month." Hillsborough County Council Parent Teacher Association/Parent Teacher Student Association (PTA/PTSA) is recognized as the largest child advocacy organization in Florida with 195 active PTA/PTSA units and over 50,000 members. During the month of November, as well as throughout the school year, the district hosts several events to promote increased parental engagement which include:

  • Parent University Sessions
  • The Great American Teach-In
  • The National PTA Art Reflections program
  • Social media outlets to increase communication
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners • Promote a culture of safety, which is free from harassment, bullying, and aggression
