SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Agreement Between The Hillsborough Consortium for Technology and Education Inc., the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association, and The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In July of 1997, the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Association and Hillsborough County Public Schools embarked on an innovative partnership to develop The Hillsborough Consortium for Technology and Education Inc. (the "Consortium").  In October of 2008, the School Board approved an agreement to provide space for the Consortium at the Sam Horton Instructional Services Center. Recently, the Consortium has been moved to the Hillsborough Classroom Teachers Administrative Building, freeing up much needed space for school district use at the Instructional Services Center.

The express purpose of the Consortium is to establish a partnership dedicated to providing a technology-rich professional development environment focused on high quality teacher training and to leverage the expertise and resources of each partner in creating a networked learning community with an ongoing commitment to integrating technology into teaching and learning in our schools and community. The Consortium has provided the resources to meet a range of diverse training needs such as ESOL required training and Class Size Reduction co-teacher training, and is suited to assist with the future teacher technology training, in conjunction with the District Staff Development Team, as we implement the 1 to 1 and digital classroom initiatives.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The School District will continue to fund the Executive Director position in the amount of a 12-month teacher, plus benefits.  Approximately $98,000 (salary plus fringe benefits) is budgeted in the General Fund.
EVALUATION
The Consortium's training activities are evaluated through end user input, which in turn is utilized to design enhanced distance learning opportunities for teachers.
