We request approval of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CareerSource Tampa Bay to delineate the responsibilities of CareerSource Tampa Bay and Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) in a coordinated effort to provide short-term introductory welding instruction to CareerSource Tampa Bay out-of-school youth clients.
CareerSource Tampa Bay will identify the students, provide the materials, supplies, facilities, equipment, and pay for the teachers. HCPS will identify the teachers, develop the curriculum, and deliver the instruction. The impetus for this instructional program is industry demand for entry-level welders, particularly for employers at Port Tampa Bay. |

• Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted: Yes)
The costs of one full-time teacher and part-time instructional hours will be paid by CareerSource Tampa Bay to HCPS on a monthly basis. This includes all hiring and certification fees, in addition to salary/wages and benefits.
EVALUATION | |
The success of this instructional program will be evaluated based on an annual review of student enrollment, completion, and job placement.
