| Approve Change to Florida School Boards Association School Board Legislative Liaison Alternate | |
| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| At the November 18, 2014, School Board meeting School Board Chair Susan Valdes was selected as the Florida School Boards Association (FSBA) School Board Legislative Liaison Alternate. In order to more equally distribute assignments to outside organizations, and to allow another board member the opportunity to gain experience and knowledge in her role, Chair Valdes recommends the position of FSBA School Board Legislative Liaison Alternate be offered to Board Member Sally Harris.
The Legislative Liaisons are the core of the FSBA Legislative Committee, serving as key authors of the FSBA Legislative Platform, and advocates in state and federal lobbying efforts. Legislative Liaisons are offered additional training opportunities to enhance their advocacy skills, general knowledge of the legislative process, and specific knowledge of key state and federal education issues. |

| The FSBA Bylaws call for the selection of the Legislative Liaison and an alternate during the November organizational meeting. The Board will evaluate the effectiveness of this choice at that time. | |
