Approve Subagreement #2500-1618-00-A with the University of South Florida (USF) for the Implementation of the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) to the Stars Project at Stewart Middle Magnet School (Curriculum and Instruction Division) | |
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
STEM to the Stars is a school-based project designed to integrate the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) STEM resources into the curriculum of two courses at Stewart Middle Magnet School. It is part of the national Project Lead the Way curriculum for middle grade students.
The effort will expand earth and space science studies and includes academic mentoring, authentic learning experiences, video conferencing, and an opportunity for students to present their research findings at a student-led colloquium. The outcomes of this initiative are to promote innovative instruction and improve student academic performance. USF requires The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida to sign the Subagreement before the Assistant Vice President of USF Research and Innovation. |

USF will fund STEM to the Stars in the amount of $9,714 for activities and materials necessary for the successful implementation of this project. | |
EVALUATION | |
Under the terms of the project, USF is responsible for the project evaluation. USF project personnel and the district, including the Assessment, Accountability, and Evaluation Department will work collaboratively to provide the required reporting and any appropriate artifacts by the deadlines outlined in Appendix A. | |
