Approve Addendum to the Memorandum of Agreement with the University of South Florida (USF) College of Education Partnership Resource Teachers (PRTs) (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On December 11, 2012, the School Board approved the Memorandum of Agreement with the USF College of Education students in Early Childhood and Elementary Education to be interviewed by a panel comprised of USF staff, district staff, and principals to be placed as interns at Title I schools.  The interns' focus was to actualize the goals and themes that drive the USF Early Childhood Education teacher preparation program and support for elementary student learning.  The program will end June 30, 2015.

Two additional PRTs, hired by Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS), will be HCPS teachers on special assignment who will serve as university pre-intern and final internship supervisors; teach courses in the Elementary Education Program; act as liaisons between  HCPS and the Department of Teaching and Learning; and assist partnership school faculty with research of mutual interest to the Department of Teaching and Learning and HCPS. The PRTs will be shared by Mort, MOSI, Pizzo, Shaw, USF Patel, and Witter Elementary Schools.  Pam Wilkins, Principal of Pizzo Elementary School, will supervise the teachers along with a staff member from USF.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
USF will pay HCPS $100,000 during each academic year to partially support the salaries of the additional two PRTs. Through the use of Title I funds, HCPS will provide support during each academic year for the salary of these PRTs.
EVALUATION
The teachers will be interviewed by a panel consisting of staff from both USF and HCPS.  The students chosen will be placed in a Title I school to work with their assigned teacher.  The retention of teachers and the academic results of each school involved will be reviewed annually.
