SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Purchase of the Professional Development Electronic Resources, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Bundle 8, from the Gale Group, Inc. (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Electronic books allow easy access to current professional resources to better support prescriptive professional development needs of teachers at all schools in the district.  The Gale electronic book collection contains full text information from Gale/ASCD reference books and periodicals and can be accessed at any time by teachers through the internet from home, school, or mobile devices.

The titles in the electronic bundles include (but are not limited to) the following topics: culturally responsive teaching, working with English language learners, parent involvement, student engagement, and classroom/school culture. With the addition of this bundle, teachers will have access to 245 titles.
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Demonstrate consistent and effective teaching methods • Motivate students to become responsible learners
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The cost of the bundle is $67,500, which will be paid by Title II, Part A.
EVALUATION
Yearly usage statistics will be provided to the district by the vendor. In addition, teachers will be surveyed regarding the effectiveness of these products within the annual professional development needs assessment.
