Approve Design Development for Modular Addition (Administration Offices) at Transportation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Several Transportation Department activities are housed in obsolete and non-economically repairable portable facilities at the Harney Road location. A new modular administrative facility is planned to replace the obsolete facilities and improve Department operations.

District staff appointed Long & Associates Architects/Engineers, Inc. and Halfacre Construction Company from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design and construction management services. The project scope includes demolition of six portable buildings;  purchase and installation of a 9,400 square foot modular facility; interior build-out; and correction of existing stormwater retention issues at the site.

Approval of design development as illustrated in the attachment will allow the design professional to proceed with construction documents.

Due to the long lead time for delivery of the modular buildings, approval to acquire the modular buildings in advance of guaranteed maximum price (GMP) approval is also requested. Project completion for the modular addition is scheduled for August 2015.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Construction budget is $2,300,000, which includes approximately $970,000 for the modular building component.  Costs for this project shall be funded by District Capital Outlay: Local Millage.
