SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Memorandum of Agreement with the University of South Florida (USF) for the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP):  Project Securing College/Career Opportunities through Rigor in Education (SCORE) Grant (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The purpose of GEAR UP:  Project SCORE is to increase early college awareness among targeted students from the GEAR UP sites (Giunta Middle School and Eisenhower Middle School) in Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) by expanding services and enhancing resources to serve students, educators, and as a result, schools as a whole via its proposed project.

The partnership with USF will include:  campus tours and events, guest speakers, off-campus workshops for parents and students on college awareness topics, and assisting the HCPS GEAR UP team with professional development opportunities for teachers.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Increase promotion rates at all grade levels and the percentage of high school graduates • Motivate students to become responsible learners
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Grant funds for an amount not to exceed $38,673 will be provided to USF on a cost reimbursement basis for activities occurring between April 22, 2015, and September 25, 2015.
EVALUATION
HCPS will collect and provide assessment data to an outside evaluator for the grant.  The outside evaluator will provide a copy of the annual evaluation report and final evaluation report to the HCPS Office of Assessment and Accountability.
