Since 1994, the NHSA’s Quality Initiative Program has recognized and supported outstanding performance of Head Start and Early Head Start programs that make a positive impact on the lives of children, families, staff, and communities they serve. NHSA believes these quality programs can serve as resources and models for the entire Head Start and Early Childhood communities as well as identifying and assessing effective practices and performance.
The Program of Achievement recognition must be applied for followed by the Program of Excellence if desired. Programs maintain their designation for three years after being recognized. To be eligible to apply for participation in the NHSA's Quality Initiative, a Head Start or Early Head Start program must: • Be in full compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards and remain in full compliance throughout the recognition period. • Be a member of NHSA. • Demonstrate effective and innovative practices in early care education and services to families. Additionally, this year NHSA celebrates their 50 year anniversary. |
