Approve Acceptance of the Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. (dba CareerSource Tampa Bay) Amendment Modification Grant Funds by the Career, Technical, and Adult Education Department, 2015/2016 (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
We request approval to accept the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. (dba CareerSource Tampa Bay) Amendment modification grant funds which are a continuation of the previous grant dated June 14, 2011.  These funds are used to implement a career exploration and workplace readiness skills five-week summer camp with a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) disciplines.  The grant is a partnership with Tampa Bay WorkForce Alliance, Inc. (dba CareerSource Tampa Bay), Hillsborough Community College, Junior Achievement, and Hillsborough County Public Schools and will serve 242 eligible 16-18 year-old Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) students.  Periodic events will take place throughout the 2015/2016 school year to enrich the students understanding of STEM careers and postsecondary opportunities.

Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, (dba CareerSource Tampa Bay) requires The School Board of Hillsborough County, Florida to be the first signature on the Agreement.

Funds of $600,000 will be awarded to support this program from the Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. (dba CareerSource Tampa Bay) grant. 
EVALUATION
In 2014, 393 students completed the STEM program, earning 1,085 industry certifications.  Performance evaluation measures are determined by Tampa Bay Workforce Alliance, Inc. (dba CareerSource Tampa Bay).  The results of the evaluation are shared with all stakeholders.
