SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve Award of Contracts for Fire Alarm Replacements at Seven Sites (Carrollwood, Schwarzkopf and Twin Lakes Elementary Schools, and Brandon, King, Plant and Tampa Bay Technical High Schools)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

A previously approved District Facilities Five Year Work Program provides for replacement of the fire alarm systems at Carrollwood, Schwarzkopf, and Twin Lakes Elementary Schools, and Brandon, King, Plant and Tampa Bay Technical High Schools.  District staff combined the requirements into a single project and selected KBA Engineering, Inc./Tanase & Associates from the approved Continuing Services Consultants list to provide design services.

The project was advertised and several bidders responded to the solicitation (see attached bid tabulation).  The bid documents allowed for award of projects  separately for each site, and also allowed firms to indicate the maximum contract award they were willing to accept. Award of contracts for construction that will result in the lowest total cost to the District, as indicated in the attached bid tabulation, is recommended.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Construct and maintain facilities that create an environment conducive to teaching and learning
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)

Total funds in the amount of $1,900,000 are included in District Capital Outlay:  Local Millage.  The contract amounts being awarded are shown on the attached bid tabulation.
