SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve an Increase in the Hillsborough Out-of-School Time (HOST) Program Fees and Temporary Employees Hourly Pay Rate Beginning with the 2015/2016 School Year
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
In 1990, the HOST program was initially perceived as an affordable child care service for working families. To meet the changing needs of students and the community, a continual increase in high quality, educational experiences have been added such as literacy and language, computer and keyboarding, science and technology, math and financial literacy, chess, clubs, arts and crafts, board games, and designated homework assistance time. Additionally, structured outdoor time and social and snack times are included in daily HOST activities. This safe, caring, and educationally enriched environment contributes to the mission of empowering students to grow and develop.
Since 2007, the program fees and employee hourly pay rates have remained unchanged. To maintain increasing operating cost and employ quality certified teachers, college students, on-the-job-training (OJT) students, and/or personnel desiring part-time work, a minimal program fee increase is requested. |
