Approve the Renewal of the Subagreement (#79002) Between the New Teacher Center (NTC) and the School Board of Hillsborough County, FL, (HCPS) for Services Associated with HCPS Role in NTC’s Federal Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant Program (SEED) (Student Services Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) initially awarded $13,944,289 to NTC for a Supporting Effective Educator Development Grant in 2012.  On August 27, 2013, the Board approved the subagreement between NTC and HCPS.  The current agreement will extend the agreement from July 15, 2015, through June 30, 2016, for a total of $225,000.  This partnership focuses on increasing the effectiveness of teachers and principals in the district "through a reform of practices and strategies and the creation of new programs within a structured induction program of professional development and mentoring work with beginning teachers and novice principals."  This will be achieved by continued implementation of a two-year, intensive instructional and student-learning focused system of teacher indication and principal induction based upon the principles, practices and protocols of the NTC.

FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
Funding for this project is provided by the USDOE in the amount of $225,000.  NTC is the grant’s fiscal agent and project funds reside at NTC.  HCPS will invoice NTC as outlined in the subagreement.
EVALUATION
Under the terms of the grant, NTC is responsible for project evaluation.  A copy of the annual reports and final evaluation report will be provided to the HCPS Office of Assessment and Accountability.
