Approve the Piggyback of Agreement #16-0025-MR-2: Bleacher, Park and Playground Equipment Between Apollo Sunguard Systems, Inc. and Manatee County School District for the Purchase and Installation of Sunshades

To provide additional options and competition in sunshade purchases, staff proposes to piggyback Manatee County School District's contract agreement No. 16-0025-MR-2 with Apollo Sunguard Systems, Inc. for the purchase and installation of sunshades, through expiration of the agreement on September 8, 2018.

Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) rule 6A-1.012 allows for purchases from contracts awarded by other government agencies, district school boards, Department of Management Services (DMS), etc., at or below specified prices.

The Manatee bid pricing (attached) includes an 8% discount off list prices for the sunshades. Apollo Sunshade has offered Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) an additional minimum 7% discount off list, for a total minimum discount of 15% (attached). Apollo Sunshade has consistently provided excellent service while fulfilling previous requirements for sunshades through a recently expired contract, and is currently providing the sunshades for the Buccaneer Fitness Zones.

The Superintendent is authorized to approve extensions of the District's use of the agreement through the term of any renewals executed by MCSD.

Expenditures for sunshade purchases were $328,739.15 for FY 2014-2015. Sunshades are typically funded by a combination of donated, school and District matching funds.

Evaluation of each installation is accomplished jointly by the District's project coordinator and code inspector.
