| EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
| Every two years, senior high school principals nominate 11th grade students from ½ of the high schools in our district in order to allow their participation on the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) for a full two-year term. An alphabetical schedule of the county’s senior high schools will allow each high school, on a rotating basis, an opportunity to provide a nominee.
Beginning with the existing 2014/2016 CAC student members, the district will expand their role to be included in the School Board and Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council (SBSSAC). These students will serve as Student School Board Representatives for the remaining School Board meetings through June 2016. Two SBSSAC students will attend each Board meeting on a rotation basis. Each SBSSAC student will attend at least one Board meeting per school year. The SBSSAC School Board Representative will begin the Board meetings with our Pledge of Allegiance and will be free to speak on as many agenda items as needed. The SBSSAC will provide the Superintendent and the district with a “student voice” on key initiatives. The Superintendent and/or Deputy Superintendent will meet with the SBSSAC monthly. The attachment reflects the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 participating schools sites. Career Centers will be added to the SBSSAC beginning in 2016/2017. |
