Hillsborough County Public Schools Technical Colleges (HTC) (Curriculum and Instruction Division)
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Initiative:  HTC (Aparicio-Levy, Brewster, Erwin, and Learey) are dedicated to providing quality, career-focused technical postsecondary programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance, or change careers.

Goals: To educate the Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) community and Hillsborough County residents about the benefits of our HTC to our students, employers, and our community as compared to other available options; to provide postsecondary training opportunities that lead to industry certifications or state licenses, leading to great-paying jobs.

Targeted Population:  HTC serves postsecondary students who desire to further their education and training in a diverse array of vocational areas.

Timeline:  Brewster Technical College, our oldest institution, began serving students in 1926. 

Professional/Staff Development:  All teachers are required to attend face-to-face and online professional development trainings specific to the courses and curriculum being used as well as professional development that is required for all HCPS teachers.

Transferability: The curriculum taught at our HTC meets the Florida Department of Education Standards (FLDOE) as well as those of the Council on Occupational Education, each institutions accrediting body.

Involvement:  HCPS: Workforce and Continuing Education Department, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department, Workforce Connections Officer, Hillsborough Technical Colleges, Secondary Schools with CTE Programs; FLDOE; Hillsborough Community Colleges; University South Florida; Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce; Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation; Various Apprenticeship Committees; CareerSource of Tampa Bay; Business Partners; Adults with Disabilities: MACY's, MacDonald Training Center.
