EXECUTIVE SUMMARY | |
Florida Statute 1011.62 was amended in the 2014 session and signed into law in July 2014. The statute includes a Florida Digital Classrooms allocation to support efforts to improve student performance outcomes by integrating technology in classroom teaching and learning. The statute requires each district to develop a District Digital Classrooms Plan, have the plan approved by the School Board, and submit the plan to the Florida Department of Education for approval.
Attachment A is the district’s Digital Classroom Plan for 2015/2016. The plan focuses on providing students and teachers with digital skills necessary to maximize their success on the next generation of online assessments. The state funding allocation will be used to provide schools with server infrastructure, teacher professional development in digital learning and additional devices to expand the 1:1 initiative and provide digital assessment tools experience. The district’s plan was developed with input from a wide group of stakeholders, including: district teachers, district instructional, financial, and information technology staff, as well as site based technology contacts, classroom teachers and parents. The plan is required to include five topics: measurable student performance outcomes, digital learning and technology infrastructure, professional development, digital tools, and online assessments. Our Digital Classrooms Plan encompasses these requirements. |
