A previously approved District Facilities Five Year Work Program provided for renovation of the HVAC system at Mort Elementary School. On October 22, 2013, the Board appointed Ossi Consulting Engineers, Inc. to provide design services.  On April 1, 2014, the Board awarded a contract for construction to Climate Control Mechanical Services, Inc.  The scope of work included replacement of rooftop HVAC equipment with new classroom fancoil units connected to the chilled water system; new chillers, air handling units and ductwork; a new energy management control system; new energy efficient interior fluorescent lighting; new ceilings; fire alarm upgrades; and installation of a fire sprinkler system.

The design professional has certified that the work is complete in accordance with the plans and specifications and other contract documents and recommends Board acceptance.

Climate Control Mechanical, Inc. has failed to make all subcontractor and supplier payments and has since filed a bankruptcy petition. Remaining contract funds due Climate Control Mechanical shall be paid to an agent of the surety providing the payment bond for the project, pursuant to Climate Control Mechanical's direction and an indemnification agreement between the District and the surety.
