SUBJECT / RECOMMENDATIONS
Approve the Memorandum of Understanding with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Inc. (BBBS) for the School-to-Work Mentoring Program
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The School-to-Work Mentoring Program will match the needs of Hillsborough County Public Schools (HCPS) students, with a screened, trained, and approved volunteer for a minimum of two years. High school students are mentored in the workplace to gain valuable employability skills and exposure to career opportunities.

During year one, the program will be provided at Leto High School to a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 30 high school juniors. Second year participants will remain matched in the program and an additional group of high school juniors will be engaged in year two. Students will be transported to meet with their mentor at the worksite once a month during the school year. The student will be asked to work one-to-one with their assigned volunteer mentor during monthly Mentoring Days which will be on-site at the Mentoring Partner’s location.

Through this program, BBBS, HCPS, and the Mentoring Partner will work with the participating students to assist them in graduating high school and developing a plan for their life after high school.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES
• Challenge and support all students with an appropriate curriculum
FINANCIAL IMPACT (Budgeted:  Yes)
The services will be provided at no cost to the district or participating students.  BBBS will coordinate transportation to and from the mentoring site and work with the Mentoring Partner to provide meals during mentoring activities.  Supplemental activities for this initiative, such as summer enrichment, may be requested from the Extended Learning Program.
EVALUATION
This evaluation will include the administration of a Program Outcome Measure and/or Youth Outcome Survey and an annual report of statistical information regarding service levels and outcome data on the children served.  Staff members from the district, school site, and BBBS will collaborate in the evaluation process.
